Labor Day weekend is upon us! Soon, gone will be the days of lounging by the pool during the week, going to Carowinds, barbecues, and the sweltering heat. Okay, let’s not kid ourselves, we are in the South; the freaking heat will be here until Christmas. Does anyone remember December 2007? I remember going to my first semester exams in a tank top! But I am being optimistic and hoping for cooler temperatures to be hitting rather soon. We actually got a whiff of it a few weeks ago, and I have become inspired to hit Pinterest in the best way that I can…to look for awesome decorating ideas and recipes galore. Oo! I feel like Willy Wonka! Come with me and you’ll be in a WORLD of pure imagination…okay, I need to chill out. Putting my helmet back on.
I am quite partial to #3 in this little board. The simple embroidered pillow I could knock out in an afternoon. What is it with me and pillows lately? I honestly have no idea, but I think Freud would say that my dreams about diving into a pit of them and just rolling around in their soft goodness would link back to some serious childhood repression. Sue me, I love pillows!
I love the colors in this centerpiece, that I think will look really awesome on my kitchen table. The pieces I can pick up from IKEA and then Hobby Lobby will have a gourd-a-palooza going on soon. Going to stock up! I hope I can find a blue pumpkin, though. So Cinderella. Love it!
A clear glass container, beans, and a sprig of something bright and beautiful. Easy, clean, and classy. I can see this going on the bathroom or on the dining room table.
Now these I can definitely see on the dining room table with a great runner underneath. Starting to get the feeling that my pumpkin quota will be exceeded this year. Hail to the gourds!
Have a bunch of nuts hanging around your house? Shoo Aunt Martha out the door (yuck, yuck) and head out to the back yard to collect a few acorns and branches. Paint a few of them, suspend them from the branches, and set them in a vase. Then, find a serving tray, fill that with nuts (WARNING: THE SQUIRRELS WILL BE TICKED…prepare for battle), and watch your guests “oo” and “ah” at how clever you are.
This is happening to my mantle. I have already decided. Reason #1: Shocktop just came out with its pumpkin ale (you will not be able to keep me at bay for long if I have double incentive to drink it). Reason #2: This project would take a whole of $5 plus a 4 pack of beer to pull off. Sold!
I am not one to tear apart a book, but this looks too cute! Maybe I will use Fifty Shades of Grey or something…kidding! But seriously, this bookish pumpkin is too cute and would look awesome in my bedroom…next to my books, of course.
I am sure you can guess where I would want to put these right? I am head over heels in love with the keys spelling out F-A-L-L and I would have some fresh pumpkins to cut up in time for Halloween…okay, may have to get new pumpkins by October. Don’t want them busting on my doorstep.
This is something I will be working on for quite a while. I have already bought the frame and I have been saving up corks since last year. This will be going on the front door when I am finished and will look picture perfect no matter what season it is. Wine season is always in season. Oh me, I kill myself.
My favorite fall scent is baked apples with cinnamon. These crockpot apples will be the perfect snack after a long day at the office and my house is sure to smell awesome.
Sweet potato ravioli. Does that not sound soooo good? I am a sweet potato loving girl. I will eat ANYTHING sweet potato. I cannot wait to give these yummy pastas a try.
This delicious pumpkin dip is made from cool hawhip (high five if you got the Stewey reference), vanilla pudding mix, and a can of pumpkin. Serve it with apples and voila! Nums nums that will make you want to eat healthy-ish.
I love to bake cupcakes, and I love having any excuse to bring out my inner dork. Butterbeer, if you haven’t been to Universal Studios, is one of the absolute best non-alcoholic drinks I have ever consumed. I am already starting a little butterbeer fund for my trip in November. But why wait until November when I can have the sweet, spiced cakes now? This will more than likely be popping up in a Foodie Friday post. Be ready! 😀
So that’s my Autumn wrap up! I would love to see some more pins that you have. I am on Pinterest. You can follow me and my pin boards: starfishywf. Pin boldly, my friends. I am going to having one HUGE Labor Day weekend of crafting.
