Weekend Challenge: Minimalist Packing

This weekend I am going to spend some well-deserved down time with my family for my 26th birthday.  Since I am downsizing the amount of stuff I have in my house, I felt it only right and fair to try it while I am away from home, as well.  Usually when I pack for trips, I tend to err on the side of, “Well, I have no idea how I will look in my clothes that day, I might as well pack a little of everything.”  Which results in a clothes pile up and me throwing not worn clothes back in to the laundry for no reason along with the dirty clothes that did get washed.  It’s wasteful and puts a strain on my back whenever I am bringing my bag downstairs.  So, for my 4 day weekend, I am choosing to pack light:

outfit6Packing List

  • 1 dress
  • 3 tops (Button down, sweater, cami)
  • 1 pair of jeans
  • Pajamas 1 pair
  • 1 workout clothes set
  • 4 pairs of underroos (yes, I call them that.  Yes, I admit I am still five)
  • 4 pairs of socks
  • Leggings
  • Pair of flats
  • Pair of boots
  • 2 scarves
  • 1 belt
  • Running shoes
  • Nice earrings
  • Bathing suit
  • One coat

I was able to fit all my items into my small suitcase with my problem at all when usually I will have issues getting the big bag closed.  So how am I going to spread out these 5 clothing items over the course of 4 days?  Observe.  It was actually a ton of fun to put together.

Jeans+Cami+Button Down+Scarf+Flats=Tuesday

Dress+ Leggings+Button Down+Scarf+ Flats=Wednesday

Dress+Leggings+Cami+Belt+Boots+Scarf=Birthday Dinner

So, there you have it.  5 outfits with only 5 pieces.  By using accessories, I can dress up my outfits or dress them down.
